Immediately
after graduation, Victoria was employed as an audiologist
for a local well-known Otolaryngologist. She provided
all audiological diagnostic services as well as providing
counseling and hearing aid fittings.
Later,
she joined the staff at Sound Resources, Inc. in Hinsdale,
Illinois. It was here that she met her colleague, Susan
Rogan, M.S. While there, Victoria provided audiological
and hearing aid services for three of the area's Ear,
Nose and Throat physicians, as well as diagnostic testing
for one of the local hospitals. She served on several
committees and provided educational seminars for a local
nursing staff and the public at
large. She was instrumental in designing and establishing
a successful freestanding hearing clinic in Lombard,
Illinois, which also provided a full range of audiological
services.
Victoria
is a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing
Association, the Illinois Academy of Audiology and the
American Audiology Society. She is licensed by the State
of Illinois as both an Audiologist and as a Hearing
Instrument Dispenser. She has attended numerous seminars
on advanced hearing aid technologies and has been trained
to utilize the most recent available.
Acknowledging
that today's technology is making hearing aids better
and better, Victoria strongly believes that working
with each patient on a one-to-one basis is the key to
her success. "Without knowing an individual's needs
and expectations, even the most advanced hearing aid
fitting will fail miserably. Patient involvement is
essential and necessary for a proper fit." So it
is that Victoria truly feels the patient should be involved
as much as possible in the entire hearing aid fitting
process. "There are so many choices in both style
and circuitry that achieving a successful hearing aid
fit requires more than just knowledge of a patient's
hearing loss. Many other factors, including manual dexterity,
vision and cosmetic concerns need to considered."
